Located near beautiful Whangaroa Harbour in Northland, New Zealand, this stylish retreat is set on a dramatic rock face overlooking it's own private beach surrounded by 102 acres of regenerative native bush, giant Pohutukawa trees, waterfall and gardens.

Facing nor-east (maximum sun in the Southern Hemisphere), the Butterfly Bay Homestead showcases the many faces of the Pacific Ocean and the many moods of one of Northlands most beautiful secluded sand beaches.

The combination of shelter from almost all winds, the warmth, solitude and an abundance of wild swan plants has made this place an ideal monarch butterfly sanctuary.
